With no less than 14 national parks and wildlife reserves, of which Chitwan and Bardia are the most well known, Nepal is a fantastic destination for jungle safari.
Chitwan National Park has a particularly rich flora and fauna. This huge and beautiful nature reserve protects 932 sq km of sal forest, water marshes and rippling grassland. With the comfort of excellent lodges, the sanctuary offers an option to view the Royal Bengal tiger, one of the last populations of single-horned Asiatic rhinoceros lives in the park, besides other species of mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles. An elephant ride is an added advantage along with a visit to the local Tharu villages. and guided jungle walks. Bardia, located in the far west of the country is yet another interesting sanctuary.
The best months for visiting wild life sanctuaries are October to April.
